Printable stories are a fantastic resource for parents and teachers

Looking online for educational resources is becoming increasingly more popular with parents and teachers and printable stories are another fantastic online resource, as printable stories can help improve a child's vocabulary and reading comprehension.

The more a child reads, the more his or her reading skills will increase, and the more the child reads and improves, the more they will enjoy the reading experience. Books should be an important part of every child's life and online literature that you can read and print is an additional way to make great stories accessible to everyone. Once you find a story online that you like you can simply print it out on your printer at home. Of course you do not have to print it out but most people find it easier and more natural to read the printed page rather than read from the computer screen. The printed story can then be read anywhere - on the bus, in the park, or in bed as a bed time story.

Children also love being read to and bed time stories in particular are very magical. Reading aloud to a child is an essential step towards building vocabulary and improving upon reading comprehension, as listening comprehension comes before reading comprehension. Therefore reading to a child is beneficial from a very early age and continues to be so for many years to come.

In the classroom, printable stories can be an invaluable and versatile resource. The printed story can easily be shared with pupils and other teachers. Pages can be photocopied so that each pupil can have their own copy to read from and follow along with. The printed story or parts of the story can even become a worksheet, in which the child is asked to perform certain tasks, for example, highlight the word duck and draw a picture of a duck, or for older children highlight every noun on the page.

Printable stories are educational as well as delightful, and a fantastic resource whether you are a parent, grandparent, carer or teacher.
